What to Expect in a Conference

A writer's conference is a time of discussion between the writer and the teacher. The writer's job is to come to the conference with a work in progress, ready to talk about how it's going. The teacher's job is to come to conference ready to listen to the writer's work, consider how to move the writer forward, and ask questions that help articulate the needs the writer is bringing to the table.

It's a collaborative effort between writer and teacher that develops and strengthens the writer's skills and deepens his or her ability to convey a message to a reader effectively and with confidence.
